Introduction
The eighth edition of the Periferic Biennial for Contemporary Art is curated by Dora Hegyi (project leader of tranzit. hu/ Budapest, Hungary) and organized by the Vector Association (laşi/Romania). Periferic 8 attempts to re-address the conditions and possibilities for producing art events in Romania created by recent economical and political developments. The Periferic Biennial gradually has become internationally recognized as a key art event and promoter of the local and regional art scene. Periferic 8 exercises self-repositioning with the introduction of a critical theme: how could different layers of public be involved and educated in order to grant an open access to and understanding of contemporary art events.
